Have you heard the latest research on Coconut Oil? I have noticed that a number of diet programs are now recommending coconut oil as one of the healthiest oils to use. Even Dr. Oz got in on it and you can find a video with him explaining the benefits on his website.
It seems that although coconut oil does contain saturated fat, it is not the kind that clogs arteries. If you are technically minded that has something to do with the fact that the coconut oil contains medium chain fatty acids. The kind that our bodies use for energy instead of storing as fat.
If you have been afraid to use it because of the saturated fat then you no longer need to be. But you do need to make sure that it has not been hydrogenated. Partially hydrogenated oils contain trans fats and they have been proven to be unhealthy. Use pure coconut oil or virgin coconut oil instead.
According to information freely found Coconut Oil is a food that many people are using to help improve their health. That brings on something else to consider. If used for health then it becomes a drug that has not been approved by the FDA. If that happens then we may lose the use of it for dietary purposes.
So what does that mean for you and me? Do your due diligence to determine whether in fact this natural oil is a miracle or just a myth. I suggest that it is neither. But rather a very healthy food to add to your diet.
